In the Old Testament Jubilee was observed and celebrated every 50 years but in the New Testament it is more than a specific time period, it is personified in a people, Jesus and His church. In God’s Kingdom economy, times don’t create the people, the people create the times. Jubilee is not a 365 day event but a people who transcend time into the eternal realms of the spirit and become jubilee. In this apostolic era, we don’t look for the move, we become the move, we don’t look for the event, we are the event!
The Year of Jubilee was called 5 things:
1. The Year of Jubilee
2. The Year of Release
3. The Year of the Redeemed
4. The Year of Liberty
5. The Year of God’s Favor
Jubilee was a new beginning for everyone. It was a fresh start spiritually, socially and economically.
Leviticus 25:14 (KJV) “And if thou sell ought unto thy neighbour, or buyest ought of thy neighbour’s hand, ye shall not oppress one another.” During Jubilee it was forbidden to oppress another person. Oppress means to maltreat, suppress, vex, to do wrong and to treat violently. A spirit of oppression fills our world; suicidal tendencies, failing economies, national apostasy, hostile politicians, increased use of drugs, divorce is at an all-time high, pornography has invaded our internet, depression fills the minds of young and old, and churches are filled with rebellious, covenant breaking people. The demonic duress and distress on this generation demands a Jubilee. God knew the human nature of mankind was to get into trouble, therefore, He created a Jubilee. If Jubilee was part of our current economic system today, there would be no national debt, no welfare, no famine in the land, and no overpopulated prisons.
Whatever was lost by misfortune or mismanagement was returned back to the original owners at Jubilee. Jesus, who is the Pattern Son, shows us the pattern for entering into our Jubilee. Jesus went through the wilderness before He entered His Jubilee ministry. Jesus left a season of being proven and tested into a season of Jubilee and announced the Year of Jubilee and the Year of the Lord’s favor. This is the apostolic era and it’s time for apostles and apostolic people to come out of our wilderness journeys. It’s time to move out of the days of obscurity into a season of visibility, promotion, favor and authority.
Jubilee was a year of the Lord’s favor, “favor” in the Hebrew is the word, Kana, meaning to bend down, to lean towards and to bow. In the year of God’s favor, God leans towards your direction, things begin to move in your favor. Blessings come looking for you!
When the Jubilee trumpets sounded, all debts were cancelled. Under the law if you died with debt, your children were responsible to pay off the debt. Currently we are shifting seasons into the Year of Jubilee, and I believe that God is not going to permit your children to be enslaved by your debt. In this season we have been given power to create wealth, walk in supernatural intelligence for witty ideas and we will even see supernatural debt cancelation like many examples in the old and new Testaments.
Jubilee is not dependent upon a calendar year, but by your revelation and declaration. Jubilee is not futuristic, for another day or another people, it is a present reality. The sons of God are not led by calendar time but by Spirit time. Jesus the Pattern Son located Himself in the move of God in Luke chapter four. Jesus found the scripture in Isaiah chapter sixty one and announced Jubilee! When you have a revelation of who you are you can locate yourself in the movings of the spirit then you have the authority to announce Jubilee. Jesus said “TODAY this scripture is fulfilled in your ears”. When you know who you are, what you have and what your assignment is you can declare TODAY just like Jesus did!
Luke 4:16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears
There was no question, no doubt or confusion who Jesus was when He declared “the spirit of the Lord is upon me because”. “Because” is a word of purpose and Jesus knew His purpose, calling and designed destiny in the planet. Everyone needs a clear revelation of who you are in Christ, what you have in Christ and what you are called to do. He closed the book signifying those verses were His assignment.
But for all the biblical scholars who research civil and ecclesiastical Gregorian, Julian or Hebrew calendars, Jubilee was celebrated every 50 years. Therefore, from Adam to Christ, being 4000 years we add up to 80 Jubilees, from Christ to the present hour is 2000 years adding up to 40 Jubilees, that’s 120 Jubilees. When observing the Gregorian calendar 119 Jubilees have come and gone, we are now entering into the 120th Jubilee. 120 is the number for Jubilee, Holy Ghost outpouring and new life. It is not a coincidence that the greek word dunamis, meaning miracles and power, is found 120 times in the New Testament. 120 is the consummate of all Jubilees. Dunamis is rendered; power, abundance, mighty deeds, mightily, miracles, workers of miracles, strength and virtue. Concealed in this word “dunamis” is strong symbolism for our time. As we enter the season of Jubilee, we can expect God’s miracle working power to be displayed in and through His church. The Miracle Worker Jesus incarnated Himself in you and I. This season of Jubilee is a season of a parade of miracles.
Therefore, this being said, Jubilee is not just a season but a people. Once again we are not looking for the event, we are the event, we don’t look for the move, we have become the move.
The Year of Jubilee was a year of rest. The writer of Hebrews announced that there is a generation that will enter that rest. You will be blessed and favored, not because of your works, but because of His works, not because of your performance but because of Christ’s performance. There is a rest that we enter into because the works were finished from the foundation of the world. Everything that He is going to do, He has already done. Our praise, worship, prayers and decrees are not a means to coerce God to do something, but are a result of what He has already finished. Our praise, worship, prayers and decrees flow out of the finished work. We can step into our Jubilee because He has finished the work.
There are 10 main characteristics of Jubilee; it was a year of rest, release, reversals, returning, refreshing, reunion, remission, renewal, redemption, and restoration. Jubilee provided so much supernatural provision, nothing was needed for 3 years. Jubilee was the year of more than enough.
Jubilee was a year of release. In the Hebrew language every word has a numerical value. Examples are the words “perish” having a numerical of 666 and “Jesus” has a numerical value of 777. The Hebrew word “Kaph” meaning open hand has the numerical value of 20. I believe the Spirit of the Lord is revealing something to us here in the year 2020. This is the year the Father with an open hand will release the inheritance reserved for the sons of God, it’s a year of open heavens, open doors, it’s the year the Father is opening up the treasures of heaven.
I believe this is a year of reversals! It’s a year that the Father will turn the captivity of His remnant church. If you sowed in tears get ready to reap in joy. He will give you beauty (suggestive of glory) for ashes ( suggestive of death), the oil (fresh anointing) of joy for mourning (suffering) and a garment (new mantle) of praise for your heaviness (dark obscurity). In the year of reversals, you move from beneath to above and from the tail to the head. The Lord will bring his people out of dark obscurity that He might demonstrate and display His life virtues through them into every sphere of society. It’s a year of reversals, divine interceptions and turn arounds.
Jesus announced Jubilee, likewise we must become the ram’s horn of Jubilee and announce a new day has dawned. In the Hebraic calendar, we are in the year 5780, the word PEY in Hebrew has the numerical value of 80, meaning the year of the MOUTH! In this season there is power behind your words. We must put a watch before our mouth. Solomon said, “let thy words be few”. What you declare with your mouth in this season is essential. Jubilee could not begin until the ram’s horn was blown. The sound of the ram’s horn was the inauguration of Jubilee, a new season had dawned. We must put the trumpet to our mouth and declare the Word of the Lord to our world. It’s the inauguration of a new season, a new day, a new era! It’s time for the sons of God to arise and announce IT’S THE YEAR OF JUBILEE!
